Following the success of last year’s concert when 8 local brass bands came together to make music and to raise money for charity, the bands are back together again to bring you another musical spectacular. One year on, the bands have not only performed together on stage in Aldershot, but have grown together and produced a series of quality concerts, bandstand and other performances hosted by individual bands, supported by their new found musical colleagues. We brought you the talents of the Tenovus Cancer Care Sing With Us Choirs (Guildford and Sutton) as a surprise act and are delighted that they have once again agreed to perform with us this year. These choirs are for anyone who has been directly or indirectly affected by cancer.

Big and Brassy Take 2 will be supporting the local charities Parkside and Step by Step this year. Parkside provides support services for children and adults with learning disabilities living in the local area. Step by Step is a Homeless Charity helping young people facing homelessness and adversity. We are also working on behalf of Brass for Africa raising funds, but more importantly organising a Big Mouthpiece Drive. The charity often receives donations of instruments but with missing or damaged mouthpieces, which make playing somewhat challenging. Brass for Arica makes a positive change to disadvantaged children and young people in Africa through Brass Music and Brass Music Education.

The word is out – last year we had 70 musicians on stage – this year we already know that we are going to top that! Make sure you don’t miss out on this amazing show, directed once again by Paul Speed. Our trombone soloist for Big and Brassy Take 2 will be the world renowned composer and arranger Alan Fernie, Brass for Africa’s very own composer in residence.
